Wonder
Michael langham once told a group of young actors, "Wonder is the most valuable emotion in Shakespeare." Emotions are physiological responses to thoughts; my experience has been, the clearer the thought, the deeper the emotion. Shakespeare's language is often so surprising, or perfect, or contrary, or colorful, characters (and actors) can't help but experience the emotion of wonder as they invent it, or listen to it being invented. I often imagine Shakespeare himself, experiencing wonder at his own invention.
Wonder is often acutely revealed through the high notes of the voice.
